I dont think it is the EBPV. You would not have driven it 2 miles with an EBPV that was stuck closed, let alone 18,000. I know this because mine stuck closed coming down a mountain towing my 5th wheel and when I hit the accelerator the only thing that happened was black smoke rolling out of the exhaust. The truck did not accelerate AT ALL. My understanding is that with the EBPV closed, it will accelerate up to about 25mph, but above that it loses all power.
I had the same problem, I did the same thing with the line to the hub, the problem went away. I was also told that there was no vaccum to the trans so this couldnt fix it, the pooblem never came back. So maybe I had a grimlen and it fell off and you ran it over Thinking about this, could the ABS have anything to do with the trans? Thats the only other thing in that are.

Reason: Thinking.
Thanks for replies. Checked EBV = it's open. Fan is wobbling. doesn't turn freely, metal shavings around it. So i guess I'll try putting the new flex fan on I bought awhile back.
maybe that will stop the roaring. Then go from there on other issues
