replaced power steering hose from hub to cooler now truck will only start and run if you have your foot on the gas. all was fine until I messed with power steering. Any advice on where to look for problem. Maybe I pull something loose?? - wife is not to happy!!! thanks for any posts
Make sure the power steering pressure switch is connected as well as the Idle Air Control. When you start it with your foot on the gas, is the idle smooth or is it very rough? If rough, then you might have disturbed and cracked a vacuum line somewhere that is causing a vacuum leak. If you had the air intake tubing out, you might have failed to get the intake tubing installed securely or completely, again causing a vacuum leak.
Basically, look back over everything that you did when working on the vehicle and see if there are dangling wires that appear like they used to be connected (clean, not dusty), etc. Use a bright light to reinspect it all.
Power steering pressure switch? - When started and running with foot on pedal it runs great nice and smooth even drove around block, had to keep foot on gas and brake though or it would stall. I have double checked everything but I am obviously missing something. I did have plastic intake cover off because I replaced serpentine belt also. It is a new day today so with a fresh mind I will look over eveything again.
Thank for your your reply it is really appreciated.
WTF - went over everything - no loose or dangling wire , hoses and or lines. Took air induction hose off ( only because I had it off when I put the new belt on ) and look at stuff!!!!, reattached, cleared off my tools reached in truck and turned key - started right up and has been fine since.!!! - maybe it is a short in the wires for the mass air flow sensor?? - will worry about it next time while it is doing just fine
