I need some ideas as to keep the raccoons off my truck when at a camp site sleeping. I just got back from a week long camp trip and every night the %$#@ raccoons kept trying to get into my truck bed (hard folding cover). I know better then to store food in my tent so in the back of the truck all food when for the night. But this posed a new problem the raccoons came out ant night and crawled all over my truck. I am going to wash the truck this afternoon to see if any damage was done. In the mean time I was wandering if anyone has any ideas as to keep them away from the truck at night. I am planning another camping trip in a couple of weeks and a bit further in the bush. Some bears may be a problem too.
No such thing as too much to hang I have been on spikes where we hung a crew of 10's food you can do it all in one go or use several bags. P-cord (parachute) cord works great it is light but strong 550 lb test also know as 550 cord it has some stretch to it but it is tough stuff. Hint wrap it around a stick and use that to pull bag up instead of trying to pull it up by wrapping it around your hand or going hand over hand just grab stick and back up then tie off.
If these are campground trained raccoons forget it they will go right up the string and across it like a tight rope act it is frustrating but amazing to watch.
I don't go anywhere without my Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler)! I can leave a cooler full of beer in the bed of my truck on the local reservation and it's still there after a day of fishing! You gotta love that girl
