Shuddering at 65 mph
My Exp 97 XLT with 60,000 miles is shuddering around 65 mph and up. Doesn't do it at low speeds. The vibrating can be felt all over. I will be taking it into the shop soon. Tires have about 12,000 miles on them. Since I don't know much about trucks, are there any checks or things to note while driving it to help the shop figure out what it is? Hoping to save some time and money. Thanks.

More times than not, vibrations at certain speeds are caused by improperly balanced wheels (tires). Have you balanced or rotated the wheels since you got the new tires 12,000 miles ago? If not, you may have reduced the lives of the tires quite a bit especially if you haven't kept the correct air pressure the whole time??? Head back to the tire shop and have them balance and rotate. This should take care of your problem.
Want to update you all. I had my Ford dealership do the 60k maintenance on my expy which included maintenance on the transfer case. I also had them change the transmission fluid which they said was dirty and balance & rotate tires. The guy said that one tire was really out of balance and showed me how to tell that they had been balanced. There is a weight on the outside of the rim that you could tell had been moved. The truck drives a lot better than before especially over 65. Thanks for everyone input on this topic. This is truly a great site with a wealth of info! Thanks!
