Tree sap

I got a bit of tree sap on my truck early last month. Some is on the paint some is on the glass.

My question is how do I get this crap off? I've tried a bug and tar remover, but it didn't touch the sap.

Zip Wax car wash soap. I've used it to wash my cars and trucks since 94. Tree sap doesn't stand a chance.

Yup I will second that Turtle wax zip wax car wash. I park under a tree a lot of the time and it takes the sap right off.

If that does not do it, try WD-40.........Let it sit on the sap for a few minutes, then rub off and re-wash area.

Turtle Wax (I Think) make a bug and tree sap remover. Also prep solve should take it off the paint. It's make to safely take adhesives off of paint.

They should have it in the auto body section at the parts store. Just put some wax on the area when you're finished because it will take the wax off.

The best remover is mayonnaise and it won't damage your paint. Yes, mayo. Spread some on and leave it overnight and then wipe it off and the sap should come right off. It may take multiple applications depending how thick the sap is. You can also use it to get road tar off. I've used it for years and it works like a charm!

Mayo works because of the vegetable oil content.

I honestly don't know what I was parked under at the time. I thought I was out farther than the limbs of the trees I was next to but I didnt pay attention to what kind they were.

I already tried that stuff. Worked good for getting the tar off my exhaust tip when the morons around here decided to chipseal a road that was just milled and paved this spring. I got on a little area that wasn't stoned too well an it flung tar all over my exhaust tip. It took that right off with a little rubbing, but it won't touch the sap that's on there.

Like someone else mentioned, WD-40. Hell, is there anything WD-40 can't do?

Use a clay bar on the paint. It will take some work but will leave your paint as smooth as glass.

Neighbors car had the same problem. Nothing would touch it. This sap hardened, and I got it off with a plastic scraper. It breaks like glass, then I used a small amount of brake cleaner to get the residue. Don't use so much as to harm the paint. You might want to try something a little more gentle as the residue isn't that difficult.

We have white pines here, and they do not sap, but they put yellow pollen over everything, including up your nose. Great for allergies.jd

Rubbing Alcohol works good, and is what I use. I live in the middle of the woods so I have no choice...
