I have seen a few people on here looking for something like this for wiring in lights and other accessories. Just thought I would share. I bought one to mount up above my spare tire then ran a 10 Gauge wire from the battery back to it now I have a place to wire my backup lights, bed lights, under truck lights, air compressor, and other things as i get them.
Those dont appear to be water tight. Are you sure you want to use it under the truck? It doesn't take alot of moisture in something like that to have major corrosion problems.
Interesting device, I had never seen anything like this before. I'll have to keep this in mind for future projects.
A couple of questions/concerns:
* Is the fuse block weatherproof? I would be concerned about it getting wet in the mounting location you have described.
* I would recommend that you fuse the 10 awg and not run it directly from the battery otherwise a short circuit or overload in this wire will cause you big problems. Remember when you use a fuse block like this it is easy to overload the feeder circuit if your not careful. Depending on what type of wire your using the 10 awg could only be good for around 30 amps. Have you thought about running it from one of the upfitter switches? They have a relay and fuse rated for 30 amps (on my truck as least - switches 1 & 2) and would seem to work nicely for this application.
It's not water tight but I mounted it inside and old pelican case i had which is also big enough for me to add relays on the inside of it later drilled holes for the wires and silicone them on inside and outside. I didn't want to mount it inside the bed becasue the dogs (which don't chew normally) might get bored someday and chew on it or the wires. I also wanted it out of sight and out of the way for when I haul gravel or firewood in the truck didn't want to do all this work to have it get snagged by a chunk of firewood or shovel.
