5.4l, different pulley widths?
replaced the alternator last week, and didnt put my new belt on right away; put the new alt on without the old one in hand (already returned for core), and the pulley on the new one seemed like it had one less rib, cuz the belt seemed to hang over the front a little. got home from work last night and the outermost rib section had sheered off and was hanging from my leaf spring.
are there different widths of pullies and maybe they gave me an incompatible one for my year/options package? i know there was a higher amperage option if your truck had the heavy towing package; but i would have thought the bigger alt would have a wider pulley (i got the 130 amp, figured my truck probably had the package since it has 4.10's).

Yes, there is a 6-rib and 8-rib I believe.
It's a truck-vs-SUV/car difference, and even earlier years of trucks had the 6-rib.
