Ive been lurking for months and love the forum, never needed to post because I have found all the information I needed TILL NOW!
I bought a 96 F250 7.3 PS about a year ago, love it so much I just bought a second one. Both trucks have a little red LED and mystery switch. On one the LED is located by the wait to start indicator, on the other its located in the lower dash. I cant figure out what they are can some one give me some hints? When I turn them on nothing happens excepth the LED turns on and stays on regardless of the key being on or off?
May be part of a security system. I have a Ford, dealer installed alarm. My "little red light" just hangs under the dash but I think is is supposed to be "in" the dash to show it is "armed." If you have a remote, look for a small box, about 3"X4", under the dash. Mine is on the drivers side tucked up on the fire wall. It has a couple wire harness connections. If your light isn't part of a security system, I don't know what it is.
Or it could be a glow plug cutoff switch. If so, hopefully it's wired to the primary side of the glow plug relay. That's how I wired mine. Trace it out and let us know.
