I've tried spraying my door sensors to no avail. Lights stay on even with both doors shut tight. I got two new sensors from Ed and I'm able to pull my door panel in under 2 minutes at this point. I can follow the wiring back to two plugs on the latch. I assume one is the sensor I'm looking for and the other is for the electric locks.
So does anyone have any tips or tricks for doing this? I'd imagine it would be easiest to pull the latch itself, but I am afraid to pull on anything too hard to remove the rods connecting to the latch. I can live without a dome light (but don't really want to) however I can't really use the truck with non-functioning door latches.
Everything in these doors are pretty simple once you mess with it. Not much that can go wrong besides breaking the plastic "locks" that hold the rods together...or losing them in the door itself.
Yea that is my main concern. 10 year old plastic that hasn't been messed with in a long, long time. And Ford probably doesn't sell you just the plastic piece. They probably want to sell you the plastic piece with a ton of stuff you don't need for 100 bucks instead of a 10 cent plastic piece.
I still mess with mine every so often and its about the same age. Theyre not as brittle as you think. Just pay attention to them. Some have to swing this way or that way before you can remove them.
