Fuel lines

Ok, I am having a fuel problem, I know that the fuel from the fuel pump to the carb is good, I know that the tank is clean. I have blown fuel out of the line from the take from the fuel pump connection point. I am guessing that I am having a problem with getting the fuel from the tank to the pump.

Would putting in new lines help? How do I know what size of line to get, I know that a 5/16" rubber hose works, but how do I find out what size of metal tubing to use. Also how do I put in the nippled ends on the line to help seal a rubber hose metal line connection.

Pull the sending unit out first. It has a screen filter on it that may be clogged with rust. Don't forget to replace the gasket.
Also, rattle the float of its brass. Sometimes they get holes in them and fill with fuel and give a flse reading on the guage.

If you do replace the line, be sure to double flare the end of the line. A single flare won't handle the pressure. Fuel could spurt out and cause a fire.
