Getting ready to fix the roof on my truck soon. How can I remove the windshield on my '82 without breaking it? Also, what method can I use to remove the old urethane to prep for the new panel? Any tips for reinstalling the windshield? Thanks!
In my experience you would be better off in the long run (don't ask how I know) to get a glass pro to pop the windshield. There are cutting tools such as a knife or wire rope that will work ok if you take your time. The urethane can just be scraped of. Instructions on the caulk recommend leaving a thin film of the old adhesive to act as a primer.

I guess I'll see if any company will do it for cheap.
I need to get all the old urethane off to prep for adhesive/welding on the new panel.
Also related, how many of those little clips are there to hold the windshield trim on? I'm assuming all of them are missing from my truck, since the trim is siliconed on at this point. Just need to know how many to order for the new trim I picked up.

Here you go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/80-96...4506.m20.l1116. I would assume that would be a complete set, but if you look to the right you'll notice there is an option to ask the seller a question. Just to be safe, I would do that. It is not likely that you would get an incorrect response.

Take a cutting torch and cut the metal back 6" all the way around it.
Sorry... Just being goofy, must be the full moon.
