Have a 96 CC short bed 4X4 with the PS. The ac stopped working today. I charged it earlier in the season so I threw the gauges on her. On max ac the clutch turns on and off. It will be on for 2 to 3 seconds then turn off for about the same time. The pressure is good while it is on. Is the clutch bad or is there some sort of relay that could have gone out?
As noted before it is normal for the clutch to cycle on/off depending on the ambient air temp/humidity as well as the cab temperature. What were the gauge readings hi/low as well as the ambient temperature and center vent temperature? Simply stating the pressures were ok is not detailed enough to make even a slightly educated guess of the root cause here.
Any A/C system can be very dangerous to work on. It does help you do have a gauge set, but add a cheap thermometer to your toolbox.
