Hi, I've got a 2000 f250 4x4 and my passenger side main leaf broke (is this common because i had a rear leaf break a bit ago too). I have to do this on the cheap unfortunately. I wouldnt mind a little lift it is only a few dollars more than new springs anyways. I found these. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFY-28290/ 2" lift spring by tuff country. Anyone have an opinion on these? Will they ride really extremely rough or sag right away, I don't plow or anything so I don't need heavier duty springs. Can I just replace the springs with these and thats it? I will replace Ubolots but will shocks still be fine, brake lines, any trac bar or pitman arm need to be adujusted or replaced? If not would just go with stock, but since I'm doing it I wouldnt mind just a couple inches and then a F350 block in the rear pending on the ride height.
Thanks for the help, you guys are great, I don't post much but I read a lot.
yeah you should be able too. You might want to check some local shops... my dad has his installed for a little more then a 100 bucks with the springs...
ya, i thought it was individual. i priced used springs from the junkyard and they are 100 a piece so for a couple dollars more i can level out the truck. as long as nothing else needs to be done, i'm going to go with the tuff country springs
i'm not sure how it happend. I haven't towed anything for a little while. I just noticed the other day when driving kind of a clunking noise when hitting rough spots in the road. Checked it out and it is broke right in front of the perch on the axle. Same thing happend on my rear just noticed noise from back there. I'll have wood in the bed every now and then but in know way over loading and only thing I tow is a pretty light 16' aluminum boat so that should not be an issue. Just bad luck?
I'll let you guys know how it works out though. I ordered the springs and I'll put them in asap.
may wanna check all your center pins. these tend to break over time. if those go out obviously there aint nothing holding the leafs in place besides the four nuts on the u bolt. good luck
Hi guys, well I finally got the springs done....after waiting for nearly a month to get them. So far I am liking it. The ride is a little bit rougher, which I was expecting. The new leafs have 5 leafs in the pack. I totally forgot to measure the before height but I think I defineitly got at least 2" with it. I think it will settle a little bit but the front is higher now than the back. The install wasn't too bad. If I was better set up it would have been much easier, but still not that bad.
All in all I like it so far only problem now is I will have to raise the back a bit and get bigger tires, otherwise I like the tuff country springs so far.
