tires

i have a 95 f-150 w/300i6 and a m5od 4x4. i have to get new tires and am either getting 30.5 x 9.5 or 31.5 x 10.5. what do you recommend? i don't want to lose any power and no rubbing. will 30.5's be bigger then my stock 235's?

thanks,
ryan

30.5? 31.5? Are you sure you don't mean 30" and 31"?

30's are a little bigger than stock, but not much. 31's will probably rub at full lock, but honestly it's not a big deal if they rub, you just get a nice shiny spot on your radius arm.

Going to a tire any bigger than stock will cause you to lose a little bit of power, but going from stock to 31's, it's barely noticeable. "Losing no power" and "going to a bigger tire" are mutually exclusive.

Maybe by an inch. Also remember that some tire makers sizes aren't very accurate.

Stock tires(235/75) are 27.5" in diameter so yes the 30x9.5's are bigger.. that's what I have on my truck at the moment and they don't rub anywhere. The 31x10.5's I had before did rub on the trailing arms at full lock but that's it. If your truck has anything less than 3.55 gears you're not going to be happy though, even these slightly larger tires will make it even more sluggish.

According to BFGs site.
235/75/15= 29"
30x9.50x15= 29.5"
31x10.50x15= 30.7"

I agree with Conanski as well.

the 30x9.50 is probably a better choice. As for brand, it really depends on what type of tire you want. Do you want an all terrain or a mostly highway tire?

I am going to go with 30" x 9.5" BFG A/T. Thanks for all your great advice again. I do have 3.55 gears too.
