1990 2.9 v6 sat for several years.Runs but has a bad lack of power.(can barley drive it up on ramps) backfires thru intake sometimes. I have checked fuel preassure 30psi at idle climbs to 40psi when you hit the gas.new plugs air filter fuel filter.pulled the codes get a 12 and 21not sure what the first one is second is temp sensor out of range is that enough to cause such a loss of power.
I would look to see if the temp sensor is connected along with the knock sensor. They are both on the same harness at the driver's side front of the engine.
A likely culprit is always the TFI module, when it is bad, it will not throw a code. Many times it will cause a bunch of false codes.
I would do a compression test to see if it has a blown head, even with a bad cyl. or disconnected spark plug wire, it should have enough power to drive down the road no problem.
