Fuel filter install question
mounted near the injectors, I believe. I would like to mount it on the frame. It has a circuit for a water-detection light which I would likely not bother with; I would simply drain the filter if I think I have water in the fuel.
Is this doable? Anybody anticipate any problems? Any need to increase the power of the fuel pump, for instance? Thanks for any advice.
The reason for all this, by the way, is that I will be driving in an area where gas supplies are sometimes of poor quality.
But more questions... Steve, I have a carbureted gas engine, rather than fuel injected. (I shoulda mentioned that.) And to complicate things a bit, the fuel filter from the Ford diesel supposedly is not restricted to use with diesel engines-- but I have not been able to get any good information on this; I don't know what kind of modifications, if any at all, would be needed. (By the way, it goes right next to the injectors on the diesel engine I got it from.)
I'd like to make this filter/separator work if it's a good fit, as a new filter/separator would cost big bucks. And I cannot use something simple and inexpensive like a good Napa gas filter, because though it would be great for filtration, where I am towing (Mexico) there's occasionally water in the fuel.
So-- I am currently clueless. If anyone can give me the goods on whether this filter will work for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks--
