Ok, What do you remove, unplug, etc to get a shot at the # 4 COP & plug ? Ive done all 7 COPS & Plugs except #4. I don't remember #8 being that hard. thanks
I don't unplug anything, just remove the Throttle Body Cover (plastic). I get to all of mine without removing fuel rail, although I have heard of others doing this. The hoses directly above it will cause you all sorts of trouble, but I find it easy now that I have done this 5 or 6 times. (I'm not a mechanic, just a DIY'er)
Here is a list of tools I used:
Craftsman 3/8 drive Flex Head Ratchet
3/8 to 1/4 adapter
All sizes of 1/4 drive extensions (1 1/2, 3, 6 & 10) (make sure they are the locking kind)
2 universal/swivel joints
7mm swivel socket
I'm going to add to this and tell you to tape the extensions and swivels together so they don't come apart when you reach back there. Also make sure you torque the plugs to the right specs.
Edit: 99ExpyProbs is right. Number 4 is a PAIN. Take your time.
Thanks all for the tips. Ya, all the rest have anti-seize, dielectric grease, and torqued. The vacuum tubing was a huge help in getting the proper thread start. Plus it allows more of a sensitive feel of where the plug actually is. Well, Time to take a deep breath, rub my hands together and dive into plug #4. Wish me luck
