I have a 96 Ranger that had a broken drivers side mirror. I got one from A1 Auto and it was very reasonable. I took the broken one off where it swivels and replaced it with the new one. It was easier then removeing the door panel. It took about 5 minutes to R/R. So it can be done without takeing off door panel. I don't know if any others exchange that way but my 96 did.
