carb change

i tried to change the carb on my 78 460 but it didnt seem to run very good so i changed it back.now it runs ok but seems to miss.could the other one have fouled the plugs out.i wish i didnt mess with it because it ran great.the one i tried to put on was a edelbrock from my 390.does anybody have any ideas. thanks for the replies

carb change

try changing the feul filetr and resetting the carbs mixture and idle speeds. also try the plugs wires, dist. and rotar. pretty much give it a tune up. but first tinker with the carb

When Vamp. says to reset the idle mixture and speed, reference the link below for a step-by-step on how to do this, if you're unfamiliar with Edelbrock carbs.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Aug-02 AT 00:48 AM (EST)]i put the original back on.the fuel filter is clear.the edelbrock had sat for awhile so im guessing it needs rebuilt.its the original that im having trouble with now.all lines are exactly as i had them before.i tried the starting fluid trick no leaks.should i get new gaskets anyway? when i had the edelbrock on gas was coming from everywhere thats why i took it off. all the plugs were new.also does anybody know where to get seafoam and is it ok to dip your carb into cleaner even if you are not rebuilding it?
