Hello, wanted to run this by the group, I have a '00 f350 with 7.3l (75k miles on truck) that I've owned for about 3mo. I took the truck with a 8ft camper to Yellowstone a few weeks ago, everything ran great. The night before Yellowstone stayed at Tetons temp was 40-deg, started fine. Next night was at Yellowstone 35deg in am and would not start. Every time I tried starting after glowing it fired for a second then just cranked, did this every time. I tried this for about 2 hrs. I installed generator to block heater until the engine was warm, still did not start. When the outside temp got to 42deg the truck started, ran rough then idled fine. I've bee using Swepco 501 additive. I got a 1/2 tank of diesel at Yellowstone. Does anyone have an idea on this problem.
Time line- Sat. night Teton's 40deg' 1/2 tank fuel
Sunday- filled up tank at Yellowstone(in park)
Monday- 35deg. would not start
Tuesday 42 deg, started fine with no glowing. ran good the rest of trip
