carb removal question

'74 F100 302 Motorcraft 2100 2bbl
I went to remove my carb for a rebuild today for some leaks that it has. When I got to unhook the throttle components I found that I ran into a dead end. There are multiple parts that do not seem to have any "unconnectable" parts. They look as though any dismantling of them will be permanent which definately would not be good.

Need to disconnect the (using my lingo) "yellow thing" and the "black microphone lookin' thingy." My haynes manual does not say anything about how to take this crap off.

Second question. On the choke there is this line that I have to remove(I think?!?!). In the picture it is the left side of the choke. Not too knowledgeable but I believe it's the choke!!! Is it just a matter of unscrewing it? Is it under pressure? How much?

Help!

I want to get this done as soon as I can. It will now probably have to wait until next week but I still want to get it done.

Any help, tips, suggestions, whatever is greatly appreciated.

Joel

carb removal question

Hi Joel, don't panic. All is well. That yellow thing you refer to is your kickdown rod for your transmission. It just pops off but if you look on the inside I believe there is a "cir" clip that has to be removed first. Take a look and if you do not see the clip than it is a pressure fit and just pops off. That "black" piece has me puzzled cause Im not sure what you are referring to but it may be the accelerator cable. It just pops off with a little tug. It is held in place by a 2 sided pressure clip and ball. The choke is an heated electric assist style. The line you refer to is a heat tube which has absolutely NO pressure in it whatsover. It just unscrews from the threads with a 1/2 or 7/16 wrench. Be careful in case it is seized on that line.
