the runners on the upper intake manifold sit directly above the passenger side valve cover. from the factory, there is a brace that runs from the upper manifold straight down to one of the exhaust manifold bolts. this brace has been rusted out at the manifold for who knows how long, thus has been offering no support.
is it really necesary to have this brace? i really don't think it offers any support to speak of. like i said, its been rusted out for years i'm sure. now that i noticed it, should i get/make a new brace, or just remove it completely?
The intake plenum really is top heavy so i'm sure that bracket does help keep the pressure off the mounting bolts some. I don't think it's a must that you have it, but it did come like that from the factory so it's your call.
