head questions..

hahaha.. i know no pun intended..

I need to know the torque on a 79 302 please.

Also.. what numbers and where are they located to see what year etc these heads are.

The engine was rebuilt from a place in St. Louis, Mo there is a badge on the side of the block.

I know its 040 over already.
Thanks again.

For those of you following my build / process

Starting probem solved, (carb had junk in it)
Distributor problem solved ( I was off on timing)
Electrical problem still existing (parasitic drain not found other things to do first)

Engine issues solved (worn engine) Still ran great, no smoke or knocking... just after a hour of driving at highway speeds ... oil pressure went down in relation to engine getting warmer LOL.. then a small tick would come and go after 230 - 240 degrees in temp.

Now I have a fresher engine to swap out. Went though it new rod bearing, cam bearings etc. Going to swap over all carb related items
will post pictures soon as I can figure out how to do it LOL

Thanks to all that has helped.
C

Don't forget when you are tightening those head bolts to do it in three increments, in the correct pattern around the head. Sorry if you knew that already but just wanted to throw it out there.

The numbers to find out the year of the heads is under the intake runners by the pushrod holes.
