Joe is right, this is the wrong page for your engine, you need the power stroke page. And he is also right that a code reader or scanner will plug in to the diagnostic port. However I`m sure the guys on the power stroke page will help you out.
I agree there isn't much we can help you with. But I have some experience with PSD's Things to look for is if the valve cover gasket plug ins are burnt on the inside. You can do an Ohm test, if you ohm out on both sides of the plug the gaskets should be fine. Sometimes the harnesses under the valve cover go bad not allowing all gp's to work. Also the gp control solenoid may work but under cold weather conditions it may not allow enough properly heat gp's. You also may need to test your gp's even though you may not have replaced them long ago if you went to autozone or somplace and got them they may already be bad. For some reason aftermarket gp's don't work too well even on other diesels. A code reader will may help but that is if only the check engine light is on which on a PSD doesn't happen too often. Another problem since it may be related to cold weather is have each individual battery tested. PSD's if they even have a decent battery to crank hot may not give enough cranking amps to crank the engine fast enough to start. PSD's are fairly picky about not starting if they aren't cranking fast enough. GOOD LUCK.
