That could be why the paint is worn off in that section.

Seriously now,,, Just a heads up:
I was at 2 local Repo.com auto sales yards today. I was able to find 3 '99 Superdutys. 1) F250 diesel YES telescoping 2) F350 V10 YES telescoping 3) F350 V8 (ex-commercial vehicle) NONE telescoping
I didn't think to check if they were CDN or US vehicles.

Also:
shanksyamaha,
I just noticed in your photo that you do not have the pivot hinges to push or pull the mirrors front to back. The F350 I saw earlier today with none telescoping also did not have hinges. The other 2 that did telescope did have the hinges.
So with that in mind I would think yours do not telescope.
(ok,,, now I wait to hear the "I told you so's")

Rick...
Either they were changed at some point in time. Or were very late model 99s

Good point. Besides not thinking to check CDN or US vehicles I should have looked at production dates.

I am wondering if CDN or US vehicles might make a differnce. Either way I'm pretty sure the sun will come out again tomorrow.

Don't waste your time and WD40. Factory mirrors on 99 super duties do not telescope.

I know 4 people with 99s and they all telescope. My dads work has had a 99 f350 cab and chassis since new and they telescope.

Instead of WD40 use "Marvel" - simililar but not as abrasive as WD40 - its an aresol - should be near WD40 on the shelf - at better retail outlets.

I tried everything I could to get them to slide in without breaking them. They do not slide in, if they did at one time, after 11 (almost 12) years in the elements, they do not slide in today.. I'll live with them in that position for now and may decide to install newer telescoping ones in the future, we'll see...

I kinda recall the telescoping was an option in '99...
But I have been wrong before.
My '99's are wide and definitely do not telescope. And the blind spot mirrors are fixed.

For those with a '99 and telescoping mirrors that you are positive are factory original: Are the blind spot mirrors movable?
If so, that proves there were (at least) two different mirrors installed in '99.
