'65 390 choke question...
Having a problem with my '65 390. When I leave the choke off (Totally pushed in) it backfires through the exhaust whenever I take my foot off the gas. I thought it was because it was just set to rich, and unburnt fuel was getting to the exhaust. However, if I pull out the choke just a little (Maybe 1/8th of an inch) the backfire goes away, but the idle speed goes through the roof. Also, I can't move it that 1/8th of an inch if my foot is off the gas pedal. That's not normal, is it? Maybe a vacuum problem?
Thanks in advance,
Rory
