Where does the MAP sensor hose go? Vacuum question.

I am putting an EFI 460 from a 89 F250 into a 70 truck. I got it sent to me from a yard in another town. I never saw it in the truck. I just got all the stuff in a box. Where does the MAP sensor hose go? I know it goes to the manifold but does it matter which nipple? There is a "tree" of nipples at the rear base of the intake manifold and one higher up near the top. Which one? I have bought every book I can find but this is not in any of them.

Also a good vacuum diagram would be nice. I have a broken pink hard vacuum line coming from a solenoid valve near the EGR valve. I have no idea where it went.

I can't help you other than www.helminc.com might have a emmisions book that would show the diagrams. Have you checked Motor Haven?

Hope this helps

Where does the MAP sensor hose go? Vacuum question.

I used to have a 1988 F-250 with the EFI 460. I remember that the map sensor plugged into the back of the intake manifold up high behind the throttle valve...hope that helps.

Where does the MAP sensor hose go? Vacuum question.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Sep-02 AT 04:01 PM (EST)]Thanks. I thought that was where it went but not sure. That fitting got smashed removing it from the truck. I'll have to get a new one.

I have the Helm books. They show the same confusing picture that is on the valve cover. It shows the pink vacuum line going to something called SRW. I can't find any reference to SRW. Any clues?

I have not checked Motor Haven yet. Thanks.

ledgeclimber, your map sensor starts at intake manifold "tree",
and usually goes to vacuum line harness plug. you know the
one with all the small plastic(brittle) lines. guess you could run
it straight from good place on intake, or tee it in off a rubber
hose coming off "tree". be careful around those plastic lines, or you'll be splicing them back together. good luck.

ledgeclimber, the pink hard plastic line goes to the air by-pass
valve on one end, and the relay (sol.) on the far right.
