carb almost fell off
hello, i have a problem. yesterday while changing my oil, i noticed that my carb was loose. i have an '82 f-150 w/ 300ci. and converted 3sp. anyway, the carb was almost coming off from the throttlebody. there are four screws that connect the body to the main part of the carb. is this a common problem? i'm really thinking to rebuild the carb. i'm getting horrible gas mileage, and it hesitates after i let off of the gas. what should i do.

I've had that happen to 2 different Carter YF carbs. My mechanic uncle told me the best fix for the loose screws is to install some that are slightly bigger. That way, they won't back out.

i'm getting the carb rebuilt by a local rebuilder ( i live in trenton, nj). he is charging me 150$ for rebuild, and gaskets, plus he throws in a filter.i heard good comments from this rebuilder, so i went w/ him. i went to advance auto also, and they have carbs rebuilt by "champian" for around 100$. i heard good comments from this rebuilder, so i went w/ him.
