So I watch the mechanic take my turbo apart and low and behold the unisom ring was stuck to the turbo housing. He said that from the factory they did not use the special antisieze that is rated at 1800 degrees on it, so it was rusted and stuck. Not only did he replace the unisom ring, he also replaced the band clamp that holds the turbo together and updated the oil return line, now thats efficient. I figure while he had the turbo out I may as well ask him to put on my cross over line. He said it wouldnt be a problem and the next day he calls me to say he is on a test drive with my truck. That was a surprise since I thought it wouldnt be done until Saturday. I asked him to test drive it out to my house and pick me up. I rode with him back to the shop and picked up my truck. He is an awesume mechanic on the 6.0 and now he is thinking of going out on his own. I cant blame him since there is a lot more money to be made. Of course all of us 6ltr owners are trying to talk him into staying. Now I have another problem, when the turbo was sticking it was over boosting. There is coolant all over the enging compartment. He is hoping it is just a degas bottle cap. He was going to replace it, but guess what, there arent any availible. Must be a common problem, or mechanics just throw them on for a quick fix. We will see when I start using my truck and see if it blows more coolant. Other than that I couldn't be happier with it. Let me know what you think about the coolant issue, and dont say HEADS please.
