...while I have it out.....

I am not a big fan of climbing all around on top of and underneath a vehicle to work on an engine. So I am going to pull the motor to do this work.

My motor has what looks to me like a leaky rear main, and also has some oil coming from the lower front. This oil has gone all over creation under the truck, so that needs to be cleaned as well.

My question is, what should I do to her while I have her out. Here is what I am planning on:

1) rear main seal
2) front crank seal if it needs it
3) oil pan gasket
4) steam clean the entire engine compartment and under carriage of the truck.

Is there anything else I should do while I have the motor out?

Also, do any of you know how much this thing weighs?

I have this http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=67015 engine stand....will that hold this motor?

Thanks for the advice,
Russ

I've seen weights on the engine from around 970 lbs dry to around 1100 wet. The engine stand should hold it easily.

Depending on your finances, you might think about new head gaskets and head studs while it's out. Head gaskets are a weak point.

Try this, 259 dollars at Summit Racing.

If the engine is out, I would do head gaskets, studs, oil cooler O rings and gaskets, front and rear main seals, oil pan gasket and probably check the heads out while they are off.
