I have only basic mods: FPR and the 15.6k (as opposed to 10k). Truck runs great - even throws a little black smoke when I wind it out.
However, lightly loaded with A/C on and pulling hard up a very long steep grade today the engine was losing power. Felt like it was not getting enough fuel. It would slow ever so slightly then kinda surge back then slow slightly again and repeat the process the entire time I was on the grade with a net loss of power overall.
What are the odds this was just the HPOP unable to keep up with the fuel demand?
Everything else was fine-EGT, coolant temp, etc.
Once off the steep grade everything was back to normal regarding responsiveness of engine to my requests for power to pass another vehicle or pull away from a stoplight, etc.
It only happened on that long, steep grade (about a 6 mile incline).
Due for an oil change in about 600 miles, too BTW.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you fellas might have.
Might be time for a FPR screen cleaning, or even a fuel filter. I would say if your not getting a CEL your HPOP is doing okay. You will get the P1211 code if its above or below desired value. So I wouldn't think it's the hpop. Just my opinion.
I will do both. I haven't cleaned the FPR screen for a couple of years since I did that mod. Filter has 10 k on it, but I have another new one in my shop ready to go. I'll drop it in this week.
Thanks for the ideas!
