I have a 2007 fx2 with factory radio and built in sat radio. I was wondering if I purchased a new radio that was also sat ready if it would be just plug and play?I want to change radio and keep using the antenna the truck came with mounted on the roof and not mount another one for the new radio.
Im assuming you want to take the OEM unit out,and replace it with an aftermarket unit? If so,I doubt if it will be plug and play.I just removed a Pioneer Aftermarket unit from my 07,and put in an OEM Am/Fm 6 disc cd head unit. The Pioneer unit worked fine, and it did say something about Sat Radio ready.
I never checked into what would be required to make it work on satellite radio, other than assuming that a seperate reciever, and antenna would be needed.
There is probably an aftermarket harness that can be had to continue to use the existing reciever with your new radio...
Yes, the stock antenna lead will most likely work. It did on my '06 when I swapped to an aftermarket headunit and sat receiver. The stock antenna lead has a white plastic piece that plugs into the stock sat receiver. Just take the white piece off and it reveals a standard antenna plug.
Yes I want to replace the oem radio and put a after market. I have 2 antennas. One for the local radio and one for the sirius satellite radio mounted on the roof. Well when I buy the new radio I want to use the same 2 antenna i have. and i know they come with a antenna u have to mount.
