Can see through windows again!
The driver side was so scratched up I could no longer see out of it and had to roll the window down to check traffic before turning/merging etc. Mine was out of warranty so I had to foot the bill. The windows were 100bucks a piece at LMC so it wasn't too bad at all.
I didn't replace the mouldings because the new ones look exactly the same so I do not think they will solve the problem. I scrubbed all the dirt out of the mouldings and cleaned them real good.
From now on, I won't roll my windows down as much and I will definitely not do so during monsoon season(That is when they get filled with dirt and sand out here in the desert). I will also periodically remove the moldings to clean the grit out of them so they won't scratch my new windows.
Would the glass repair stuff help on that ????
if they ca fix a chip, can they fix scratches ???
My windshield is the issue or me when I am driving into the late afternoon sun !!!
Darn people drive too closely in the front and throw stuff at me !!!
If yours is starting to get scratched, pull the outside moulding off and wash it good. It is not a dirty window that scratches it. It is sand, silt, and dirt that gets trapped in the moulding and rubs your window everytime you roll it up and down.
When you are sitting in your vehicle, look at the moulding and see if there is dirt in it. If there is, roll the window down, remove the mirror, and lift the moulding straight up to clean it.
