The craigslist ad that I bought my truck from, listed it as a 302. Last night, I decoded my vin and it came back as originally 360. Checked when I got home and sure enough, 360 5 bolt valve square covers overlapping the intake.
I have heard of a 360 being listed as a 390, but not this way around. So without spending a dime, I added hp to my truck! Boom!

Wow.
My spark plugs were finger tight, I took them out by hand with a socket and extension. My valve cover and oil pan bolts appear the same way, I can see thread on some of them. The engine looks like it was dipped in the La Brea tar pits.
The front wheel bearings are toast, they are visibly tilted, so kingpins are in order too I am sure.
Junkyarded a heater housing and fresh air vent, 2 door panels, window regulators, dash pad, turn signal ****, window cranks.
Found a Holley 4160 carb for $80. I havent bought it yet cuz that is quite a ways down the priority list, but it's a deal so may gotta do it. I have been doing more "thinkin' 'o doin'" than doin'.
If I had as much money as I want to spend, I would be as broke as I am now.

Bolted down my tank, ran fuel lines, finished brake system, cleaned interior, mounted and hooked the shifter up. Started her up. Runs great. Ran into an issue with the carb. For the temporary use of the truck, comes the temorpary fix of the carb. Seeing a 351 is in line almost ready to go

I am stupid.
I rebuilt the carb, junkyarded a dash, door panels, blah blah blah, and only got around to checking compression this weekend. I have 80 and 90 in 2 cylinders aaaahhhh!!! I am putting off doing a leakdown...I dont want to know.
Besides, today is a good day to take the christmas tree outta the box and armor all it, you really can never be too early for that kinda thing. Or a colonoscopy, maybe I should do that first before a leakdown test?
