I'm running on 3 goodyear g947's (225 75r 16 e)and 1 oddball. Goodyear site claims extra wallstock for delivery curb rubbing. They're also $350 at belle tire. I've always had great mileage with Michelon's and their half the price.
You think I can mix them?
Get a pair to run with the other pair.? and use the goodyear as a spare?
I'd hate to run a mushy sidewall with stiff walls if thats what the goodyears are. Lots of miles still on them also, close to 1/2 inch eyeballing them not useing a ruler
If it was me and I ran 4x4, I'd want all the tires the same. You should be able to use the other one as a spare if it's close enough in size and don't plan to run it a long time.
I need to get into whereever and change my trucks, the 4x4 is deceased, son in law used it. sniff sniff , and kept using it after the funny noise started. sniff sniff
This would be the new used van.
If I have to use over a weeks unemployment I'd rather buy 2 tires I know I can expect over 60 k with (previous experience) Neither goodyear or belle is suggesting anykind of milage from the G947's
Myself I think the 947's could possibly have stiffer walls, and was hoping for a tire guru !!!!!! Maybe its ok to put a pair of michelons on 1 axle. Didn't they used to let us mix bias and radials if we put the radials on the rear????? Long time ago
You can use different tires without any problem as long as the tires are the same on an axle. When I was a poor student, I had a Ford LTD with 4 different tires on it, and never had any serious problem with it. I was a careful driver, however.
I think I'll go with the pair idea.
Usually put the new ones on the rear, back to the front also. I figure they are half worn, if the front end gets out of align let it eat up the worn tires. As long as I don't buy the cheap ones I usually get over 60k this way, and don't have to buy 4 at the same time, like you do with the perpetual rotating system
Wish my wages went up at the same rate prices on the things I need do.
