choosing 351w heads

choosing 351w heads
ok so i have a 351w block its bored .030 over it has 289 heads ported and polished, roller rockers and lifters,chevy valves, triple valve springs. i want to switch heads i cant seam to get the motor to run on all 8 cylinders unless i have the lifters loosened till they tick i dont know if theres any way i can fix that or what i should do im stuck and any help would be great. thanks
