2001 Expedition front end noise
Got a weird problem with my Expedition.
1.Replaced the ball joints about 2 years ago, [upper]
2.noticed that when I turn sharp to the left or right, there is a "clunk"
almost like a joint slipping.
3.Took the right front wheel off and could not notice anything loose, but did
notice some play, side to side, and am wondering if these "new" ball joints could have worn out some because they were less than substantial because
they were "cheaper"
Thank you

Since you've pulled the wheel off and did some light investigating- it wouldn't hurt to take a closer look at the joints you have replaced.
How tight were the joints at assembly (during the initial replacement)?
Oh... and thread moved...
Yes the lower joints are what I replaced. I noticed last night that there seems to be some play side to side are the play seems to be at the lower joint. Took out the cotter key tried to tighten but the nut was as tight as I could get it unless I needed more leverage. The control arms seem tight.upper joint seems to have no play. Now this is all tested by me using my hand to shake back and forth. I tend to think that I need to replace them but after
2 years? Unless I did something wrong from the word go. I also noticed that if I take my hands off of the steering wheel the truck goes to the left. The roads arround here are pretty crappy,so that doesnt surprise me too much.Yes I will look at the rest of the forum for future info.
Thank you
John
