Well, I was having a pretty good day, but about five seconds changed everything. I was driving along on a rural highway when an oncoming truck veered into my lane. Didn't even have time to hit the brakes, all I could do was crank the wheel hard for the ditch. The other truck, a ranger, side-swiped my truck, turned me sideways and I slid along the shoulder about 60' before the truck caught and rolled on its roof. I unbuckled, crawled out the window and rushed to the other vehicle, which came to rest on the passenger side. The other driver walked away with bumps bruises and cuts,as did I. We were both lone occupants in our vehicles and both wearing seatbelts also. It was later determined that he most likely fell asleep and neither drugs or alcohol were involved.
First off, a "before" pic of the truck for those of you that haven't seen it, after all, I only had it for 4-1/2 weeks.
"After"
The Ranger...
This happend about three weeks ago and it is just another testament to the safety factor of these trucks, the Super Duty most of all. The insurance made all well with a VERY fair settlement and i have purchased a replacement vehicle already (see below).
Man I am glad that both of you are alright and that the insurance company took care of you. Too many times, that isn't the case...with both people walking away that is.
Very pleased to hear you and the other fellow are ok. The Trucks do look pretty much totalled.
I figured the Super Duties needed more roof support. A couple of years ago I saw a 2004 F350 crew cab gently roll over into a ditch and the roof caved in pretty good from the weight of the Truck. I would have thought Ford would make the roof support stronger.
That's probably over 100mph impact there. The truck took real well to that impact. The frame on the ranger buckled. Just enough space for your head to not be crushed, barely... Glad to hear you came out in one piece. That was a nice truck, sad to see it gone.
