1994 problems with hot start

Hello,

I am looking at a 1994 with a PS the guy that has it says that it starts cold just fine but once hot it will not restart with key but you can push start it and he also said that it will die going down the road but will restart.

He said that he thinks it is the icm and a leak in the hpop.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

First change the CPS (cam position sensor) that may fix the dying going down the road. As far as hot starts. It sounds like you have a bad o-ring in something. Possibly the ICP. Does it leak? It doesn't sound like a bad issue. If you are buying, try to get it cheap and fix it yourself. We can help you once you get it in your hands.

IPR o-rings are shot. It will start OK when the oil is cold (thicker) and not start when hot (thinner). The hot, thin oil leaks past the bad o-rings redering the IPR inoperable.
IPR = Injection Pressure Regulator

Oops I meant to say IPR. Thanks Jim.
I think bad injector o-rings will cause this also but there are other symptoms if that is the case.

BTW you don't necessarily need to make an IPR wrench as shown in that link. I bought a socket from NAPA that was plenty long enough. Not all sockets are long enough.

x2 on what these guys said. I recently had the same problem with mine, it was the IPR o-rings. Its a fairly cheap fix and pretty easy to do. To make things easier I removed the fuel bowl. Took about two hours taking my time..
