hey folks new to this forum, i drive 60 miles one way to work so i decided to get me a ranger and save some gas and also throw my dirtbike in the bike. welli got a 04 with 46000 miles for 5 grand. i dont think it was a bad deal. its a 2.3 stick reg cab 2wd. well i have never owned a ranger myself and have a cpl questions. the truck tends to shake off and on a bit going 2 work on the interstate, im guessing the tires needs rebalanced. gna try that soon. i just got the thing and didnt notice during the test drive. also when your goiing for instance in town and the speed limit is 40, well when you go 40 you can feel the truck surge a lil i guess u can say. i can feel it but its nothing major, its not a smooth 40ish mph. also one more thing. sometimes when u start it the badboy fires right off and then again sometimes it will turn over for a cpl seconds and as soon as i touch the gas pedal it fires right off. like i said this is my first ranger and i think its an awesome truck. all my buddies have em and lasted for 150000 miles easy. sry about the full page, but wanting to pick some minds here. thanks folks......
yea i was thinking the same if the tires wasnt the fix. gna try 2 jack it up this week and check for anything with play. the surging and that weird startup worries me a lil tho. gna put a fuel filter on this week as well and see if that does any good.
Checking for play with the wheels in the air may not show all play. In addition to that method, have a friend turn the steering wheel back & forth about a quarter-turn (wheels on ground). You then grab the tie-rod and feel for any clunk.
