What is the most effective & easiest scratch remover that you've ever used? I got fine swirls on my X and a bicycle handgrip line all the way down my van. There's a lot of different crap on the market, I don't feel like experimenting. Time's too valuable, you know?
Try 3M fine cut rubbing compound first, then use 3M swirl mark remover. Depending on how deep your scratches are, this should do the trick...I was impressed with the results I got using it on my 1995 Mazda Miata.

Well if you think about it though, dont you wax after everytime you was anyway, so you could just poilish that stuff in to. BTW dennis, do they make it for black?

Well, no. I WAX twice a year, wash once a week and POLISH once a month. And you know what? The scratches will still be there unless I buff 'em out. (Wax protects; Polish shines. )
I used the 3M once for one of my motorcycles and found it to be a bit labor intensive to use. Meaning it takes a while and it is two steps. I wouldn't mind all that much but 1. I've got 4 kids that take up a lot of my available time & 2. I need this for my Excursion & wifey's van, that's a lot of bodywork! I was really looking for something a bit faster to use but not foresake any effectiveness, if possible...
Hey Monsta:
When you find something...please share your results...I have some brush marks that go the length of my Expy. I used a mild rubbing compound, (wax and polish to finish) but you can still see them. I have the Laser Red metallic paint on mine, and I really don't want to take the paint off by hard rubbing. I think I will just have to live with it, I'm sure it will end up with more.
Monsta - I recommend 2 different brands. The first is hard to find, but if you can, get it! Its called DuPont # 7 - comes in a green metal bottle. The other is Meaquire's Body Scrub( you use it on cars - hehe). I used DuPont on all my cars until I couldn't find it anymore here in GA. Last summer we went to the beach, and my wife laid a towel on the hood with sand all in it. When she drug it off, well, you can imagine what kind of mood I was in...
The Meaquire's worked just as good when I got home and used a buffer to put apply it, and hand towelled it off.
BTW, my favorite motorcycle mag (Motorcycle Consumer News) recently tested scratch removers. Blue Coral Scratch Remover won. Ever used it? I can't even find it around here!
Haven't used the Blue Coral, but am willing to use anything if it works good. Seems like I saw that at Pep Boys here. Have been meaning to wax the truck for about 3 weeks now, just keep finding other things to do. I'll let you know how it goes...
My personal favorite is Mother's California Gold. I've never used anything that lasts as long I wax mine twice a year. In the sping I buff it with 3M Imperial microfine compound, then glaze with 3M Finishing Material using a foam buffer pad. Follow with the Mother's. In the fall I just put a fresh coat of Mother's and it lasts all winter.
It must work, I get a lot of compliments on the way it looks
