well last night i was sitting in a parking lot waiting on someone with the truck running and it started to sputter.so i gave it some gas and held it at 1500 rpm for about 30 seconds and it cleared up.then i shut it off and it cranked for what seemed like forever before it would start.i have never had this issue before so i figured i would get some opinions before i dig in to it and start swapping parts.
i havent changed them since i bought it almost 3 years ago but i did notice a leak around the base of an injector so im figuring that gasket is bad and the return lines are a little wet so its something to be expected i guess
Sputtering while running...new to me. Did you get some poor fuel at your last fill up?
At one point I remember reading about our mechanical IP's requiring some more lubrication because the newer diesel fuel does not have as much lubrication as it did when these trucks were built. The suggestion on that thread was to run an additive or a quart of ATF every other fill up.
Maybe you got some junk built up in your filter or lines.
When's the last time you ran an additive?
Edit-Didn't see the last post about the leaks...looks to be the issue there
