I have a 66 F100 with a ford 302 in it. Just recently I am getting oil coming out of the top of the dipstick tube when running and then of course starts smoking as the oil burns off
1) what would cause this to happen? Just started when I changed the valve covers.
2) could the tube be broken somehow? if so I cant find a replacement. It looks like it runs all the way down into the oil pan? can that be right. It runs from up by the back of the valve cover on the driver side, behind the exhaust manifold down to the oil pan and screws in. All I can find when I research them are like 1 foot long and have a push in type end.. what am I mssing?
Is the hose collapsed or pinched. The pvc is the vent system for an engine. If it is blocked pressure builds in the oilpan and will force the oil out the closest hole. The dipstick tube.Plug the tube and it will start building up in the top of the motor and come out the next available soft spot
If you pull the pvc out with the engine running, you should have a strong vacuum pull when you put your finger over the valve.
i have the oil breather cap on one side, and the PCV valve on the other side
With the engine running pull the hose off the pcv and stick your thumb to it. you should feel a vacuum in the hose. The pcv should be drawing air out of the block to not allow pressure to blow oil out of the dipstick as others have noted.
