i have a good amount of oil under my truck. looks like it is dripping from the converter cover. has never leaked this bad before. the vally is dry. could it be the rear main seal. is there a way to check. can you change the seal without pulling the motor. what else could it be. i just installed the 38r last week could it be form that meaning more boost maybe blew a seal or to much blow by. i did the oil cap test on the fill tube and it sat right there. what other things should i look for, before i take somewhere other than the dealer.
Since you just put on the 38r, I'd pull the 5-way pipe so you can see rear of the valley real good. Might be a turbo o-ring. Did you pull the pedestal also?
Welcome to the 38R club. Did you change out the pedestal and turbo o-rings?? Its almost a must when changing out a turbo. It could be your EBPV assembly, the plunger. Mine was wet but it seems dry now after cleaning everything up.
i changed the pedestal O rings when i did my up pipes about 2 months ago and i changed the turbo O rings when i did the turbo. where would i look for the EBPV assembly?

[/quote] Underneath the exhaust side part of the turbo, really hard to see but if you get a flashlight and shine it under there, you could possibly see where the leak could be coming from. It was that rod assembly you connected for the EBPV, its connected to the pedestal, there's a plunger in the ped. there thats prone to leaking.
like big poppa pump said, the ebpv rod could be you culprit.when i got my truck i always had oil in the valley.i did the ccv mod and unpluged the ebpv and walla no more oil in the valley.but if you already have it unpluged and its still leaky im pretty shure you gotta take the rod out ad plug it with a 22mm freeze plug but im not shure on that so some one should correct me if im wrong.

you can check to see if the rear main is leaking by taking the converter cover off and look in front of the fly wheel with a flash light..it could also be the hp oil rail plugs on the back of the heads.

update still have not found the leak but it is getting worse. it is coming from top of motor. the valley is starting to get oil in it now. the HP oil is not leaking. it is coming from the pedestal some where. where can i get the o ring kit for the EBPV does any local parts store have it? or can i just gut it. i am about to pull intake to get a better look. will return
Your local Ford dealer may have it. Guzzle from Diesel o-rings online can have it to you pretty quick if the dealer doesn't have them on hand and he will be waaaay cheaper if you can wait. http://www.dieselorings.com/
i would delete that sucker if i was you and never worry about it again. i know you live in MD and its cold up there but its worth not having to mess with it again......
Like Jason said above, Guzzle has the Viton o-rings, they are better for this new ULSD and bio blends than the regular o-rings. Check out guzzles link, it will explain the differences. Also, he has fast shipping and your taking care of a FTE brother. I second Bill's comment above, I like my EBPV because it gets cold up here but if mine leaks, i,m deleting mine, one less leak to worry about.
