302 headers

I'm putting a 302/C4 in my 52 F3 and I'm not sure what headers to use. Can anyone that's already done the same tell me if these will work or what you have used?

Try the mustang shorties. I'm using them in my 56. Should be able to find in salvage yards cheap.

Are you talking about something more along the lines of this?

Are you running a stock steering box? I tried the shorty headers in my 58 with a 302/C4, the drivers side wouldn't clear the steering box.

I beleive Williemakit is referring to the stock headers on later model 5.0L motors. Fromw what I can see, they won't work with stock suspension brakes and clutch pedal locations. From the best that I could tell, a block-hugger header that dropped straight down from the middle two spark plugs might work.

i have a 1949 and im having the same problem its a newer 5.0L and the mustang shorty/equal headers wont clear the steering box and a hugger header would work great. Patiort i beleive is a company that sells a cheap header from what i could find.

I am running a saginaw cross steer. No clearance issues. Also with clutch. Late model mustang. If I knew how to post pics I would.

I used the 3rd set from Speedway in AHC. You can see pictures on my website in the link below. First used on the 302 but currently running on the 351W also pictured.

I called Sanderson Headers yesterday and told them what I was doing and they were able to tell me which set of headers would work. I kept hearing good things about Sanderson so I ordered from them. I can't wait to see how they do.

Sweet, I'd love to hear how they fit & also what the part number(s) are. I've got this in mind for my truck (when I get rich & have some spare cash).
Thanks for a great post.

These are the headers they told me would fit. I'll post pics in a couple weeks when I get it in.

If you look at my pics I've got a couple up there. The headers are the Sanderson FF1. They fit great but the quality wasn't what I thought it would be. They don't look bad but are just a little rough. Nothing a little cleaning up won't fix. I'm happy with them though. If you call them they may try to tell you that the FF2 will work but it won't with the stock steering box. I know. I have a set I need to return.
