need some 4x4 help please

I put my truck in 4x4 for the first time since my leveling kit. Well when I put it in 4x4 i can drive straight, but when i start to turn its like im pushing the tires. I got out and turned the wheels lock to lock and it puts the shaft in a bind. Anyone else having this problem? And what can i do to fix it?

leveling kit should have no issue with the 4x4

are you doing this on the pavement or dirt?

sounds like you are testing it out on the pavement...if so, that will occur on any part-time 4x4 you try it with reguardless of brand

DON'T EVER USE 4X4 ON DRY PAVEMENT

only do it in ICE & SNOW when 2wd doesn't work. Then switch back into 2WD ASAP

using 4wd on pavement prevents torque build-up from being dispersed by wheelspin. Since all 4 tires have equal grip, the driveline torque builds up and causes binding...and eventually something will break. Most likely a U-join if you are lucky

Preferably on a gravel road or some other place with reduced traction.

If you engage it on pavement, keep it going as straight as possible to at least minimize the stress.

Anything with good traction is going to cause the truck to jurk and not turn smooth. Its very hard on the system and like the other guys said will cause something to snap. When I havent run the 4x4 in a while I will turn the 4x4 on in the yard at work. Its dirt and gravel so there is wheel slip and doesnt cause this problem. Keep off the dry road using 4x4!

angle is a bit extreme. but you'll be fine. Now if you were to drive it for miles upon miles locked in 4x4...then the angle might become a problem later on down the road.

just check your CV joint rubber occasionally for tears...especially after you do alot of 4x4 action.

I think I read on another post about the u-joints not being serviceable on these trucks? Is that right? I had the bolts come out where my drive shaft bolts up to the rear end and when I had the drive shaft out the front u-joint seemed a bit stiffer than the rear one.

last time it snowed we had about 3-4 inches on the road. I used 4hi all the way to work. It's about 10 miles. I should be fine running for that length of time right?
