Hey all came out of work this evening and the Excursion would hardly move. It ran fine when I drove it to work. I got it towed home and ran the codes from my auto x ray and found the following codes.
2001 Excursion 6.8 4x4
P0743 Torque Converter clutch cir.
P0755 Shift solenoid B Malfunction
PO1747 Electronic pressure control solenoid short circuit.
The overdrive light is also flashing. When I pull it down in 1st it will move a little better. Will hardly move under its own power. Is there a fix for this or is my tranny toast.
I don't think it is a trans problem. I think it is a wiring problem to the transmission. All three of those are electrical faults, not transmission hardware problems.
You should inspect the wiring to the trans, especially the connector on the passenger side of the trans. Take that apart and look at each of the pins on both side of the connector. There may be damageand/or corrosion.
Thanks for the help Mark! I was under it this morning before the sun came up and worked that plug on the passenger side and from what I can feel and barely see it looks fine and I do not see any problems with the wiring.........From what I can see.
ANY other tips would be greatly appreciated before she goes off to a tranny shop.
It will move a little better in reverse and if I pull it down in to first gear as to if I just leave it in drive. Motor starts, idles and revs fine.
Here is what I have found........ I went out and found the fuse had blown in the under the hood box. (20A) so I replaced it and the truck drove good until It got good and warm and it poped a fuse again. When I went to replace it it blew again right away.
I can't see anywhere the wire is rubbed anything but you can't see hardly any of the wiring. Give me some opinions on this info. I belive its going to have to go to a shop in the next couple of days.
Well the shop today placed their tranny controll on the excursion and found everything in the tranny working correctly. The fues for the tranny under the hood is still blowing and now it is running VERY VERY bad for them. They seem to believe we have an electrical problem.........could this be a sign of a ecm problem.
Well I have the truck back and you are right it was a short. I do not know how but the O2 sensor was shorting out and sending voltage back and toasting the tranny fuse.
