My truck in sig.has 87000.00 miles and i have just been noticing that when I turn hard left or right , slow or normal speed I'm getting a little rumble in the front end.I picked up this truck w/66000.00 miles and only replaced the steering damper.Everything else seems to be original, and drives fine other than that.
Any Ideas..?
First, make sure your hubs are unlocked and nothing in the 4x4 system is bound up.
Jack up the front end and push and pull the top and bottom of the tire. If you have any movement, you need ball joints. If you wiggle the side ad 9 and 3 o clock, and you have any play, you have steering linkage issues. I would also take the tire off as well, remove the brakes, and see if there is any play in the hub assembly.
I just replaced ball joints, drivers side tie rod end, and the entire link between the pitman arm and tie rod. Alls good now, but I had a wandering, noise making truck for a bit. About 350 bucks later and some elbow grease, I'm good.
