I'm getting ready to start my frame up restoration of my 78 F250! One thing I'm working on during the week in the evenings is getting the little pieces & parts ready. The grille shell that I have to put on the truck is oxidized pretty bad.
Does anyone have any tips on getting this to shine???
Read through the following link. My recommendation is Eagle One Wadding Polish for the cleanup then a good coat of metal polish to preserve your new look.

The best aluminum polish I ever used was called Simi-chrome. It comes in a small tube like toothpaste, and it's a little pricey, but it is great stuff. I used to buy it at the local Honda/Triumph bike shop.
Good luck!

problem with that aluminum stuf, it's anodized. you gotta strip the anodizing off before you can get a shine on the base metal. as long as parts are off, i use oven cleaner, wash it, then steel wool, then wet sand any scratches, then rubbing compound, then a final polish with simichrome. then urethane it clear or wax it real well. it's a huge messy job, thats why the refinish shops charge so much. i did a set of vintage alloy wheels once, they best one took about five hours.
