I have 29ft RV on a F450 chasis with a V10 enigine. Run well and towes well. It is stock. What are my options for overall better performance..hp, torq, mpg...etc?
What year? Depends on wether it's a 2V or 3V but there are not tons of options either way. Gears are usally your best bang for the buck. Followed by a good tune and tuner. Banks makes a header/y-pipe/cat-back kit for RVs. Not sure if other headers and y-pipes fit or not.
F450 pulling 29 ft RV that should be playing with it.
I pull 40ft 5th wheel with 2002 F250 V10 3.?? gears and do ok.
worry more about stoping it than getting it going or how fast I can go.
If you want to make some more power, look into doing a full exhaust including headers, a new y-pipe, and muffler. I went with Banks for mine, which was not cheap but worth it. There are others that make good product too. All depends on what you want and what you want to spend. The stock intake is pretty good, but there is small room for improvement. Many around here swear by an SCT Tuner from 5 Star Tunes. I personally have not had much experience with them, but they seem like a very reputable company from what chatter there has been around here.
Like the above poster said, you also might want to look into upgrading your braking capacity. SSBC makes replacement calipers, but that's basically it. The calipers themselves look very nice, being 8 pistons, but are costly. Most here just throw on a set of PowerSlot slotted rotors and Hawk pads.
Everything depends on your budget and not much else.
